Where It All Started
In 1923, at Shoranur, Poruthiyil Madhavan Vaidyar — born to Poruthiyil Koru Vaidyar and Kuttyparu Amma of Chalavara — began practicing Kerala Ayurveda Chikitsa, carrying forward the Kerala Ayurveda Sampradhayam passed down through his family.
What began as one Vaidyar's commitment to authentic Ayurvedic care has, over a century, grown into Madhava Pharmacy and Madhavam Ayurveda Hospital — bonafide Ayurvedic medicine and treatment reaching patients across Kerala and beyond.

1923 — The Founding
Poruthiyil Madhavan Vaidyar begins practicing Kerala Ayurveda Chikitsa in Shoranur, rooted in the Kerala Ayurveda Sampradhayam.
Growth — Dr. Krishnankutty
The practice is carried forward by Dr. Krishnankutty, deepening Madhava's reputation for authentic care across the Shoranur and Palakkad region.
Ayurveda Medicine — Mr. Shankar Ram
Mr. Shankar Ram expands Madhava from individual practice into structured Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing, laying the foundation for what would become GMP-certified production of classical formulations.
Treatment Centre — Madhavam Ayurveda Hospital
The Madhava Group expands into dedicated treatment with Madhavam Ayurveda Hospital in Shoranur, Palakkad district, bringing medicine and Chikitsa together under one roof.
Today — Shanthi Shankar & Dr. Krishna P. Shankar (BAMS)
The next generation leads Madhavam Ayurveda Hospital and Madhava Pharmacy together, ensuring the Ayurvedic way of life becomes accessible through both classical treatment and modern patient care.
